Hey there!  Today I’m linking up with Heather over at Housewife Glamour for another edition of Friday Favorites, but this time it’s the Workout Edition!  I decided I would share some of my favorite workouts that I’ve posted over the past 6 months or so.  After all of the cookies I’ve been posting about (and eating) lately…seriously, so many cookies… it’s probably time that I give you a few ways to burn them off! 🙂

My First Mud Run Experience

Last Saturday, Matt and I did our first Mud Run with a team from my office.  It was called The Battlegrounds and the proceeds went to the USO.  You gotta love a good cause!  Not gonna lie, I was a little (ok, a lot) hesitant about it, seeing as how I’m admittedly not a huge fan of the outdoors, at least the dirt/bugs part, and everyone who knows me knows I love myself a good hair tease and rarely leave the house without makeup.  I’m probably making myself sound more like a prissy-pants than I really am, so don’t get me wrong, I’ll get down and dirty with the best of them, but on rare occasions….and this happened to be one of them. 🙂  I haven’t run in a while, due to a hamstring issue, so the 5 mile course was a little daunting but I made it through- injury free!  There were A LOT more water obstacles than I anticipated, but you just had to rip the band-aid off and go for it.  After the first one, it was old news.  Instead of boring you with all of the details, I thought a little photo dump might be appropriate in this case.  Besides, I’m sure everyone will enjoy the rare photos of me with my hair out of place and covered in mud. 🙂

Even in the mud I’m attempting to be dainty…that didn’t last long.

My much-more-athletic-friend Amy stuck it out with me. 🙂

Mudrun6Even in an ice bath.  Yes, I said ICE BATH.  Luckily Mother Nature had mercy on us and gave us a warm day.  As you can see from my face, it was quite cold.

MudRun4The aftermath.  I got mud directly in my eye literally as I was crossing the finish line.  The result- I look like a Dalmation.

In the end I was so glad we did it, it felt great to finish!  There is another race in May and we already marked it on our calendars.  Side note, I found out on Monday that I got 7th in my age group! Woop woop! (I think it was only out of like 30 other girls but hey, I’ll take it!) 😉

And, since today is a special day, I have to give a little shout out to my main man.  Happy two year anniversary!  Now, here are a few normal photos to close things off….

Treadmill Interval/Lunge Workout

This past Saturday Matt and I had a big day planned, full of lots of “homeowner duties”, aka pulling weeds, mowing the yard, etc., etc., etc….you get the idea. 🙂  I was up super early (for a Saturday) so I went to the gym to get a quick workout in before we started the day.  I wanted to do something quick, yet effective.  It was a cardio day for me, but I wasn’t in the mood to do my usual running/interval routine, especially after an entire week of workouts.  SO, the result of my impromptu workout is below!  I switched it up and after a warm up  did 3 minutes of lighter running intervals, followed by 2 minutes of walking lunges at a 12.0 incline.  I repeated that until I reached 30 minutes total.  Let me tell you what, my glutes and hamstrings were burning by the end, and it lasted throughout the rest of the day…pulling weeds probably didn’t help matters either!  I can’t lie, I contemplated quitting at the 20 minute mark, but I kept thinking to myself, if you are going to post this on your blog, you better finish it!  See, this blog is already doing a great job of holding me accountable! 🙂
